For Authors
Submit ManuscriptAs the online companion to the Cardozo Law Review, de•novo is designed to promote discourse concerning timely legal issues, as well as academic matters, through the publication of shorter and more targeted pieces. Accordingly, de•novo will publish:
- Standalone pieces – both academic and practical – that are shorter in length (up to 25 pages) than a traditional law journal article;
- Collections of short commentaries on a single issue;
- Responses to articles published elsewhere, especially in the Cardozo Law Review itself;
- Updates to previous articles, in light of recent developments; and
- Texts of speeches or presentations.
Submissions Timeline
de•novo accepts and considers submissions year-round. Manuscripts may be submitted either through Scholastica or by emailing the Head de•novo Editor at cardozo.l.rev.de.novo@gmail.com.
Publication Timeline
Once selected, an article will promptly be reviewed, edited, and readied for online publication – as both a webpage and as a downloadable PDF file – generally within a few weeks. Because de•novo is an online journal, and thus is not limited by the same constraints as print journals, de•novo can be flexible in the length of this process.
